Offley Place in Hitchin is a wedding venue I have admired for a long time for its elegance and opulence, and I was so excited when they agreed to let me organise a photoshoot in their incredible Hester Ballroom. The enormous chandeliers lining the ceiling are incredible, and the neutral colour palette suited the colour scheme perfectly.

The colours create a romantic, timeless look, given a modern twist by the amazing Fleur de Lace by way of the gorgeous airplants in geometrics and floating candles in tall glasses. Kirsty at The Flower Mill complemented this styling perfectly with crisp white and pale blush roses, and soft foliage. The table was finished with intricate stationary by the wonderful Olive and Millicent, an essential part of any wedding table. Samsa May’s created a stunning table plan suspended from a copper frame, which we adorned with foliage and styling to reflect the table.
Kirsty from The Flower Mill said, “For the florals we wanted to keep a neutral palette with plenty of interesting and contrasting textures, I used pampas grass to compliment the air plants for decor and table scape. I chose to work with large headed statement four seasons roses as the focal point with complimentary foliages.”
One of my favourite parts of photoshoots, and indeed weddings, is seeing the incredible cakes that are created. As always Nina from Meadowsweet Cakes who’s three tier masterpiece was adorned with handcrafted sugar craft roses, gold leave and pampas grass decorative icing. The elegant swooping lines of the cake stand blended seamlessly with the table styling.
Our beautiful models Samantha (bride) and Charlotte (bridesmaid) wore stunning gowns from The Wedding Workshop and Th&Th Bridesmaids. Samantha’s two gowns showed two very different bridal looks, both bespoke, the first with a beautiful beaded bodice leading down into a gorgeously soft tulle skirt. The second was a magnificent strapless gown, elegant in its simplicity with an intricate handcrafted belt from Rachel Sokhal Bridal Accessories added. Both models had stunning hair styles by the super talented Kim Sandford Hairdressing, and stunning make up by Make Up By Joely Richardson.
Again we were joined by Adam from Creative Spark Films to capture the day, and the day would definitely not have run as smoothly without the fabulous help from Vikki at Your Wedding Friend!
A beautiful touch is to have hints of gold in amongst the nude and green to tie the two tones together. We did this in the gold rimmed glasses, the geos and the delicate headpieces and belt by Rachel Sokhal Bridal Accessories. Gold is often over-looked in favour of in silver, but I love it, and feel it brings an opulent warmth to weddings, tying the two colours together.
In Conclusion…
I adore elegance, and this photoshoot was the epitome of that. It was one of my favourite to date, and as always I was so blown away by the talent and skill of the suppliers involved. I wasn’t the only one, as this shoot was featured on The English Wedding Blog!
I have a wedding here next year, and I would love to return to photograph another Offley Place wedding, so please do get in touch if you want to chat about your wedding!
