One of my favourite types of plants is a succulent. Do you know what a succulent is? They’re those exotic looking, thick leafed plants that are often found indoors for decoration. They have a fascinating geometric beauty to them, and can be a beautiful addition to your wedding. This is particularly true if you’re having a foliage heavy look or pale colour scheme. Foliage being a big feature in wedding trends this year means using succulents will be right on vogue! Below I’ve outlined some of the great ways you can include these delightful plants into your wedding.
Placecards
Succulents are firm and hold their shape really well, so are fantastic for holding placecards with your guests names. These placecards below by Olive and Millicent looked fabulous in these succulents, the pale green working beautifully with the white and gold.
In The Bouquet
Succulents peeking out amongst a bridal bouquet or flower arrangements bring something a little different, and a lovely classical, exotic feel to your wedding. They work particularly well in foliage dense bouquets such as this one by Flowers by Suzanne above, as they blend really beautifully with the green tones.
In The Table Decorations
Also, a great way to stand out from the crowd is by introducing succulents into your table decorations. Your guests are sure to love these quirky little plants, either in a statement succulent centrepiece or nestled in amongst flowers or foliage. This table set up by Venue Styling by Sara featured above and below shows beautifully how subtle succulent use can be stunning.
As Wedding Favours
Finally, one of the hardest things I found to decide on was favours. What should I give as wedding favours? If you’re having the same struggle, why not gift them succulents? Succulents and Sunshine has written a great tutorial here on how to make succulent wedding favours!
The photos featured in this blog post are from my styled shoot from March 2018, which was featured in Affinity Wedding Magazine. You can see more about this photoshoot on my Publication page.
So if your not sure how to make your wedding flowers unique and memorable, I hope I’ve managed to help! I love succulents and think they’re a wonderful addition to weddings…. question is will they be an addition to yours?
